Workshops on Prostate MRI
Two workshops on Prostate MRI run per year (one in December, one in April) , validated by a French accreditation. The official language is French The participation is limited to 40 people.
International Workshop on Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer by multiparametric MRI and MRI-directed Prostate Biopsies
The next workshop will be held in Paris, France. it is intended for urologists and radiologists. It includes lectures by international experts and sessions with analysis of MRI cases on workstations. Contact :
UDRI : Union pour le Développement de la Radiologie Interventionnelle
Founded in 2003 by Drs Didier Bonnel and François Cornud, the UDRI aims to promote diagnostic and interventional prostate MRI.
Prostate MRI is now recommended before biopsy to localize focal suspicious areas requiring a targeted biopsy. Expertise is required to assign the right PI-RADS score to a focal lesion detected on MRI.
The interventional program includes MRI-targeted prostate biopsies and in bore MRI-guided focal laser ablation of prostate cancer.
The association organizes two teaching courses (workshops and seminars) per year on prostate MRI, validated by a French or European accreditation.
The association plans to develop interventional prostate MRI to guide prostate biopsies and focal treatment of prostate cancer with a low risk of progression by cryotherapy. Focal treatment spares the healthy tissue adjacent to the tumor, protecting the patient from side effects (sexual impotence, urinary incontinence) that can be observed after radical treatment (surgery or radiation). Real time monitoring of cryo-ablation is done under TRUS guidance, using a 29 MHz transducer (micro-ultrasonography).
