UDRI : Union pour le Développement de la Radiologie Interventionnelle

Founded in 2003, the non-profit organization UDRI aims to promote diagnostic and interventional prostate MRI.

  •

Prostate MRI is now recommended before biopsy to localize suspicious areas requiring a targeted biopsy. A learning curve is necessary to accurately interpret prostate MRI examinations. The association organizes workshops on prostate MRI, validated by a French or European accreditation, and encourages radiologists to register to these teachnig courses to improve their knowledge of MRI features of prostate cancer.

  •

The association is currently heavily involved in TRUS-guided, percutaneous, transperineal interstitial laser energy ablation of prostate disorders (tumors, benign hyperplasia). The delivered laser energy creates a temperature rise of up to 100°, destroying targeted areas. High-frequency ultrasound probes are used (14 to 29 MHz), with high spatial resolution, allowing access to the treated area with a great accuracy. These partial ablations spare prostate tissue adjacent to the treated areas, thus avoiding possible side effects (degradation of urinary and erectile function for cancer treatment) or retrograde ejaculation for BPH ablation
